Jeff Katz

Jeff had 16 years of experience in financial planning and credit card processing when he identified a need and a way of offering more value to the whole payments ecosystem. He also knew that if he formed partnerships and alliances with dealers and developers (resellers),  his company would be able to use existing channels to deliver services that he’d develop. He designed a business model that would be scalable, drive phenomenal growth, create a powerful closed-loop marketing engine, and provide an enhanced customer experience.

Jeff’s idea for this unique business model became a reality when he joined forces with his brother and technology expert, Marc Katz.  They launched Mercury Payment Systems in 2003.  Jeff’s vision and experience in the payment processing industry, and Marc’s technology acumen became the foundation for Mercury’s strong start, followed by rapid growth each year.  Mercury’s channel partnerships, shared values, and execution on the plan has driven it to be the fastest growing company in the payments processing industry, every year, for the last six years. Currently, Mercury processes tens of billions of transactions per year and continues to grow ahead of the market. In 2010 Silver Lake acquired 60% of Mercury Payment Systems.

Jeff left Mercury to create ProfitStreams and develop a comprehensive set of value added solutions for restaurants that provide them with more customers, increased revenue, and better data about customers’ needs and wants which enables the restaurant to make better decisions. His business strategy is based on his experience and belief that a strong alliance with channel partners provides a strong point of differentiation and that sustainable business models are based on creating a “win-win” for everyone involved.

Jeff received his B.S. degree in Accounting at Binghamton University. in addition to being CEO of ProfitStreams, Jeff selectively invests in new ventures.
